About Me

👋 I'm Tai, a Senior AI Engineer specialising in Large Language Models, Generative AI and LegalTech.

My journey began with a BSc in Psychology with Criminology and Criminal Justice, followed by an MSc in Clinical Psychology. While working as an Assistant Psychologist, I discovered a passion for data analysis and completed the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate.

This led me into the technology sector as a Data Analyst within a Cloud Services consultancy, where I developed expertise across Python, Tableau, Power BI, MySQL, R, and cloud technologies including GCP BigQuery and Azure Data Factory.

During this time, I contributed to projects including the development of a Natural Language Processing (NLP) chatbot using AWS, which sparked a deeper interest in Artificial Intelligence and the possibilities of intelligent, language-driven systems.

Motivated to build on this interest, I pursued an MSc in Artificial Intelligence while working at Deloitte as a Data Analyst, graduating with Distinction in 2024.

Bringing together my backgrounds in Psychology and AI, my research explored the responsible application of Large Language Models within mental health support, receiving a Special Recognition: Best MSc Project award.

My project, “Enhancing Empathy and Accuracy in LLM-Based Mental Health Support: Evaluating LangChain, RAG, and LoRA to Mitigate Hallucinations, Bias, and Insensitivity in Conversational AI” , investigated techniques for developing more accurate, empathetic, and responsible conversational AI systems.

I subsequently joined Metaverse VR as an LLM Engineer, combining my experience across AI, Data Science, Psychology, and software development to work on innovative applications involving Large Language Models and immersive technologies across virtual, mixed, and augmented reality.

Today, I am a Senior AI Engineer at Hugh James, where I have brought that multidisciplinary experience into LegalTech. My work focuses on applying AI and Large Language Models to the legal domain, exploring how emerging technologies can be engineered into practical, reliable, and responsible solutions for complex legal workflows.

This represents an exciting next chapter in my journey: moving from analysing data, to building intelligent systems, to helping shape how AI can be applied within a highly specialised professional environment.

Alongside my professional career, I am also the Founder of Afro Ubuntu TradeNet, a B2B digital platform created to unlock the potential of Africa's informal trade economy through technology and greater connectivity.

This portfolio brings together some of the projects, research, and ideas that have shaped my journey so far. At the heart of them is a common thread: a curiosity about people, data, and technology, and a passion for building meaningful solutions to real-world problems.
